Afternoon Program
Pure Vaganova Ballet Technique (ages 10-14)
Get ready for an extraordinary ballet experience at Fomkin Ballet Academy this summer! We are excited to offer a four-week Vaganova Style Summer Intensive for intermediate-level students, ages 10 to 14, seeking ballet skills refinement. Under the expert guidance of renowned Artistic Director & Master Teacher Mr. Aleksei Fomkin, this intensive program will help dancers take their skills to the next level with a mix of technical training, pre-pointe & pointe work, body conditioning, and folk dance. To submit your audition, please complete the Video Audition form and pay the audition fee.

Vaganova 1 level Summer Intensive (ages 7 to 10)
The Vaganova Level 1 Summer Intensive program for students ages 7 to 10 focuses on introducing the fundamental principles of classical dance technique. This includes exercises to develop coordination, footwork, arm and head placement. Throughout the program, participants will gain experience performing basic classical dance combinations based on the Vaganova method. They will also work on improving physical attributes such as turnout and flexibility, muscle strength, balance and body control, posture and elegant lines, upper body presentation, stretch, lightness and jump height, and precise motor skills. Classical dance training fosters artistry, enhances musicality, body expressiveness, discipline, and willpower.

Folk Dance Intensive classes (ages 10 to 14)
This program introduces students to the rich traditions of folk dance from around the world. Throughout the intensive, dancers will explore styles such as Hungarian, Spanish, Italian, Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic folk dances, and more—all performed in heeled shoes.
Through dynamic and expressive movement, students will develop coordination (especially through complex and asymmetrical steps), strength, endurance, flexibility, rhythm, and graceful posture. In addition to physical benefits, the program builds confidence, stage presence, and artistry. It also offers a meaningful connection to cultural identity—inviting students to experience the beauty of both their own heritage and that of others.

Summer Intensive Schedule*:
- 12:30 – 1:30 pm: Vaganova 1 level Summer Intensive (ages 7-10)
- 1:30 – 3:30 pm: Pure Vaganova Ballet Technique (Intermediate Level, ages 10-14) + Pre-Pointe Work/Pointe Work/Ballet Flexibility Training
- 3:30 – 4:30 pm: Folk Dance Intensive classes in special character shoes with heels (ages 10-14)

How to Register: To be considered for the Vaganova Ballet Technique (Intermediate Level, ages 10-14) program, all applicants must submit a video audition ($35 audition fee per person). Currently enrolled FBA students are exempt from the video audition requirement.
To submit your audition, please complete the Video Audition form and pay the audition fee.You can easily upload your video file directly on the JotForm submission page.
Audition Submission Guidelines:
- Video Duration: Your audition video should be no longer than 3 minutes. We encourage you to showcase your strongest technical skills and artistic expression within this time frame.
- Attire: Please wear appropriate dance attire that shows your form and technique. We recommend classical ballet attire, including a leotard, tights, ballet shoes, and your hair securely tied back.
- Recording Tips: Use a smartphone or video recording device to capture your audition. Ensure good lighting and that the entire length of your body is visible throughout the video. Position the camera at an angle that captures your movements.
- One Video Per Applicant: Only one video can be submitted per person.
Required Exercises:
- Barre Work (One Side Only):
- Battement Tendus 1 min
- Adagio 1min
- Center Work on Pointe (For Pointe Dancers Only):
- Relevé on center 1 min
Note: If you are only practicing pre-pointe work, you are not required to record your pointe work exercises.
Once we receive your completed form, video submission, and audition fee payment, we will notify you of our decision regarding your acceptance into the Summer Intensive 2025. You will receive a link to proceed with your enrollment and payment if accepted.
